Get Benefited By Joining Weight Loss Boot Camp | Diet plan. | How ...

?

Article by Shijina

At present, terms like healthy body, fitness, weight loss, diet, work outs are becoming more common and popular as it is whispered by every generation. This health-consciousness is necessary for us as it is good for us in every way.

Today most of us are following tactics like to be on diet, performing hard work outs, etc. This is done to obtain the objective of becoming slim and fit. But how many of us are aware about the fact that what we are doing is right or not and if it is so are we following a right procedure for this. To do the task is not so important, but the most important thing over here is how we are performing the task. It means workouts that we are following are done in a right and safer way or not.

Camps like fit camps, boot camps and effective weight loss camps are found today in every walk of life (i.e.) in every street they have their presence. Taking part in any one of these camps will turn out to be beneficial and helpful to you. But before you take part in any of these camps you must consider few things.

It is true that today most of these camps are not run by professionals. Few non- professionals are holding up weight loss boot camps so as to gain recognition and make money out of it. To say frankly their main motive is to make money out of it and nothing else.

In general weight loss boot camp are run by retired army or navy personnel. Such personalities may have their own campground to conduct their workouts or they may even make use of public places like parks or beaches.

Separate camps are held for women, men, kids and even also for elderly people. Hence you must join a camp that are owned by professionals and that has a good name and fame and it gives out a good final result.

Depending upon the requirements of each individual the duration for the entire weight loss boot camp will differ. For few individuals it will ask only a few weeks of time and for others it may take months of time.

To check the physical ability of the person such camps start off with a small health checkup that is carried out by health experts. As the physical ability for each and every individual will differ and based upon the ability of the person training is offered.

Usually, the program starts with simple warm-up exercises like squat or sit-ups or jog or having a walk on the treadmill. As the class progress workouts will slightly change and it will become harder and complex too.

In most cases a trainer will turn out to be unsympathetic and will not let you to go until and unless you complete the given task. But at the end of the day it is you who is going to get benefited from the workouts that are conducted in such camps.

Heeere's Johnny, with prequel to 'The Shining'?

Warner Bros.

Jack Nicholson starred in "The Shining," which could receive a movie prequel.

By Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, NBC News

"The Shining" is?considered by many to be one of the most terrifying movies (and books) of modern time. But do fans want to know what went on at Colorado's spooky Overlook Hotel before Jack Torrance and family arrived?

Warner Bros., which made the 1980 film, is considering making a prequel to "The Shining," the Los Angeles Times is reporting.

The studio has producers working on a possible new take, but hasn't formally committed to the project, the newspaper reported. One of those producers, Laeta Kalogridis, wrote the script for the Leonardo DiCaprio film "Shutter Island," based on Dennis Lehane's 2003 novel.

Stephen King certainly gave Kalogridis and crew enough to work with in his 1977 novel. As fans of the movie and book know, Jack Torrance (played memorably by Jack Nicholson) comes to serve as caretaker at the Overlook after a previous caretaker murdered his family and committed suicide, and the hotel is full of ghosts of previous visitors.

The Times points out that King has been working on "Doctor Sleep,"?a sequel to "The Shining," featuring a grown-up Danny Torrance. Early reports were that the book will be published in 2013.

But some fans want "The Shining" to be left alone. "Is there a worse idea than this?" writes Scott D'Agostino on Twitter.

"Let me check. Nope," responds Jordan Raup, editor-in-chief of The Film Stage.

Is a "Shining" prequel a good or bad idea? Tell us on Facebook.

The Ghost Guest: Hot Chocolate: Always Save Room for Dessert

For an early birthday dinner, my friend Sharon and I went to a restaurant that's been on the top of my must-try Chicago restaurant list. Hot Chocolate is a Wicker Park eatery owned by pastry chef Mindy Segal. Mindy is well-known as one of the best pastry chefs in the world and was even recipient of the prestigious James Beard award for outstanding pastry this year. Word on the street was Hot Chocolate threw a mean brunch, but I wanted to try dinner and dessert, of course. On the Saturday evening we dined at Hot Chocolate, the cafe's front windows were completely open, creating a nice breezy atmosphere. The restaurant is constructed of dark woods and leathers, reminiscent of chocolate itself. Sharon and I were seated in a half-booth in the middle of the restaurant and were promptly given a run-down of the evening's specials. After glancing over the food and drink menus, we decided to split a large format Belgian beer. This 750 mL bottle of beer was from Portland's Upright Brewing. Our knowledgeable server described how rare it is to find this particular beer on menus in Chicago, prompting us to choose it over the handful of other Belgian-style beers on the menu. This beer was unique in that it was very hoppy compared to most Belgian-style beers. For my entree, I went with the mussels served with a generous creamy, buttery broth and toasted baguette points. I have to admit, this was a premeditated order, since I wanted to choose my drink based upon my entree. The dish was spicier than I anticipated due to the addition of jalapenos in the broth, but I enjoyed the complex flavor combined with the tender mussels. Paired with the hoppyness of the beer it was a delicious choice. The portion size was massive, but that didn't stop me from finishing (nearly) all of the mussels. Sharon went with the crab cake sandwich on a bun with fresh giardiniera tartar sauce. She enjoyed the tartar sauce but admitted while delicious, the crab cake had a lot of filler. She also said the homemade cottage chips were a bit too salty to enjoy. I tried a bite of the sandwich and I did find it tasty, although it's probably not something I'd order on a return visit. Our server was a bit MIA during our meal, although she did check to see how everything tasted once we were served. I was impressed with her knowledge of the menu, although it seemed the support staff were more attentive and did a better job tending to our table overall.

I mentioned we were celebrating my birthday so our server dropped off a box of homemade cookies. Obviously dessert was one of our main reasons for visiting Hot Chocolate so I was thrilled to try some of their famous pastries.

Although we were told these were cookies to take home, we immediately dug right in. The box held a chocolate crackle cookie, snickerdoodle and two varieties of rugelach. Rugelach is one of my favorite cookies in the world so I was beyond happy. My favorites were the raspberry rugelach and the chocolate crackle cookie. The richness of the chocolate cookie was similar in taste and texture to a brownie and the rugelach was sweet and flaky. Since the cookies were only the "appetizer" to our dessert course, we decided to get an item off the ever-changing dessert menu. Much like the brunch and dinner menus, the dessert menu features local and seasonal ingredients. On our visit, there were three seasonal items including a blueberry pie, chocolate cake and lemon panna cotta. We had our hearts set on one of the dessert menu staples, a gooey chocolate souffle topped with salted caramel ice cream and homemade pretzel points and served in a mini cast iron skillet. They definitely saved the best for last because we absolutely demolished this dessert. From the warm oozing souffle, to the buttery ice cream, it was no wonder Mindy Segal was voted best pastry chef. The pretzels on top were a bit too salty for us but that didn't change our opinion about the dessert. This was chocolate heaven! Overall, we enjoyed our leisurely Saturday meal of indulgence. From the warm atmosphere, to the rich chocolatey dessert, Hot Chocolate was a great experience. I give the restaurant 4.5 stars for its educated staff, eclectic mix of menu items, and, of course, those sinfully delicious desserts. My next visit to Hot Chocolate will undoubtedly be for weekend brunch, and you better believe I'll be scoping out some more of those delicious pastries!Hot Chocolate

Safe Home Improvement Projects Kids Can Help With | ej-fransen.com

Some people feel that if they hire a nanny, they will miss out on a lot with their children, but this is simply not true. By having someone to take some of the responsibility off your shoulders from time to time, you are able to be more productive and quite honesty, perhaps even a better parent. Now when you make time to spend the day together, you will be more likely to do something exciting rather than pop in a movie for them to watch.

If you have projects to take care of around the house, it can be tempting to give your child a new toy or put in a movie so they stay out of the way, but kids love to be involved. Why not make use of this eagerness to help? Especially considering in a few years you will barely be able to get them to do anything! Believe it or not, there are small projects that they can help with around the house that will allow them to feel part of something special while also empowering you to create good memories together.

Chalkboard

This is a super fun project for kids, especially if the chalkboard is going in their room or a play room! They can hold on to the end of the measuring tape and help you decide where the chalkboard will go and then depending on age, they may be able to help you paint the chalkboard on the wall. Whether they help paint or just supervise, they will be thrilled to get at the chalk and create on it for the first time!

Outdoor Furniture

Outdoor furniture can almost always use sprucing up. If you do not have any old furniture, you can always pick up a few pieces at a yard sale just so they have something fun to do. If you hire a nanny, you can shop for supplies and hit up a few yard sales on your own. Kids can help wash the furniture and then paint it. If it is a special chair for them then they can be creative with designs and color. When shopping for paint, be sure to look for low-VOC formulations.

Storage Solutions

Does your garage or mudroom always look like a tornado went through it? Pick up some wood or plastic crates or even a few heavy duty boxes as well as paint, fabric or anything else you want to use to decorate and label them. You can create storage for everyone so everything will have a home.

Paint Your Mailbox

Why have the same dull mailbox that everyone else has on the street? You and your child can paint yours and they will have the satisfaction of seeing it as you come and go from the driveway. You could use stencils and paint butterflies or lady bugs on it or just make your own unique and fun design.

Stenciling

Have you been wanting to create a stenciled vine crawling up a wall? Perhaps you want to add a little design to the mirrors in the bathroom or to your ?kitchen windows. Stenciling is easy. You hold the stencil in place, and they can paint. You might want to practice on cardboard a few times first.

Tree Swing

Adults and kids alike love a good swing from a tree from time-to-time. The two of you can locate a supportive branch and then create a swing with a tire, plywood or anything else that is sturdy. You can always let them paint the swing too. This is something that is sure to get used.

Install Solar Lights

Children are amazed by the simplest things. Let them help you put the solar lights along the driveway or in the flower beds and then at night, take the outside and let them see the lights illuminated. They helped make that magic happen!

Weeding

Whether you call them e or invasive plants, there is certainly never a shortage of them. If you don?t trust your child pulling the weeds from the garden, there are likely sidewalk or driveway cracks that are full of them. You don?t even have to be home to get this project done. If you hire a nanny, they can supervise this task any time. Your kids will feel more involved and needed, and you will be weed-free!

The Smartest Strategy to Use PPC Advertising | Arty Apt

Pay-per-click is usually considered as a high priced total waste. One philosophy is always that it?s safer to get your online traffic totally free as opposed to paying for it. Does it make sense to accept the time for it to learn everything you should learn about this strategy, one that only works when individuals visit your ads and then purchase from you? In fact, this doesn?t only connect with PPC, but to any or all types of internet marketing. You cant ever make sure of success, it doesn?t matter what way of online promotion you decide to use. It is possible to come up with a lot of money using pay per click advertising; so many people are doing this right this moment. You need some idea of what you are carrying out, though. The following tips will help you start.

When you wouldn?t like to end up spending big money on poor results, its also wise to stop afraid to pay as much money since you need to. Should you run a campaign that targets an incredibly competitive phrase or word, you will need to count on paying over you?d probably for a less popular keyword.

Yet in case you are earning profits by bidding on costly keywords, yourrrre still getting a value. Wouldn?t you spend a little little more cash an excellent campaign in the event you often see traceable and tangible profits from that campaign? You ought to be happy as long as you see more income being received by your Paypal (or Clickbank) account than is leaving your Adwords account. If, however, you?re spending a lot more than you will be making, then this new approach is necessary. Once you put together the advertisements for the various campaigns, remember to include the plural versions of words. Attempt to think out of the box, there are a lot of marketers who ignore while using the plural keyword versions within their campaigns, and they?re leaving big money on the table. Be aware you are always properly using your words correctly ? keywords and words inside your ads. Avoid inappropriate plural kinds of words ? be sure to check. Doing which get visitors to research your advertisements but they is going to be looking at them and question you. Experience indicates over and over that ads containing poor selection of words, or misspelled words, don?t get click-throughs.

Use PPC for the products which aren?t seeing a great deal of luck with other kinds of marketing. You could be inclined to focus all of your efforts around the most successful products you are offering. The truth is some types of marketing be more effective for certain products than the others.

PPC is really a highly targeted advertising system.

PPC enable you to raise your sales of less successful products. There exists a possibility that you might end up getting yet another income. For those who have more income sources business energy advertising online increase.

Pay per click is surely an elusive art. A whole lot or new marketers to the net think they don?t want to do too much when it comes to their pay per click marketing campaigns. Ppc is usually approached in the same way along with other network marketing and advertising methods such as article promotion. Frankly ppc can be a completely different beast.

They have unique requirements and methodologies that ensure success. In the event you don?t approach PPC the right way you could wind up further in debt and not possess a single sale to demonstrate for your efforts. Before putting together a campaign you have to learn all you can about PPC. You?ll be pleased that you simply used your time as soon as your sales increase!

Smart Ways To Consolidate Debt : Home Equity Loans Can Help ...

All debt is bad debt right? Wrong! Although it may sound counter-intuitive, there is such a thing as good debt. ?Good debt is investment debt that creates value; for example student loans, real estate loans, home mortgages, second mortgage loans, and business loans,? says Eric Gelb, CEO of Gateway Financial Advisors and author of ?Getting Started in Asset Allocation,? in a recent article on Bankrate.

Bad debt, on the other hand, is debt incurred for items that decrease in value, such as cars, clothes, plasma TVs. Credit cards are typically the culprit behind creating bad debt. Interest rates on credit cards are usually very high, and if your balance isn?t paid in full each month, you end up paying more for items that are continually decreasing in value.

By refinancing your high interest credit card debt into a home equity loan, you can turn that bad debt into good debt and ? here?s the best part ? save money each month! ?If you take a home equity loan because you have a 17 percent credit card, and you go with a 6 percent loan that?s tax-deductible, that?s good debt,? says Robert D. Manning, a professor of finance at the Rochester Institute of Technology, in a recent article on Bankrate. The lower interest rate of a home equity loan may even allow you to pay off the balance quicker than if you were making minimum payments on several different credit cards each month.

Let?s not forget that debt consolidation isn?t just for those with bad debt. In some cases, your good debt can be made even better by refinancing your mortgage. Combining a first and second mortgage through refinancing can lower your mortgage payment, and therefore save you money each month. Refinancing your adjustable rate mortgage into a fixed rate mortgage or switching your interest only loan into a more traditional mortgage may also allow you a little more disposable income.

There are many equity loan options out there when it comes to debt consolidation. As with any financial decision, you should do your homework and find out what will work best for you and your family. Remember that, ultimately, the goal is to turn that bad debt into good debt and let that good debt keep growing in value.

Upgrading to a Programmable Thermostat to Save Energy ~ Home ...

By Gillece Services

Many homeowners look for ways to save energy, and therefore money, through the use of new products and conscientious practices. These may include energy efficient systems, such as heating and air conditioning units, or energy saving practices like turning off or unplugging lights and appliances that are not in use. Any way that you can find to save energy on a daily basis can help to contribute to noticeable savings in a year.

Energy for Heating and Cooling

Energy bills account for a significant chunk of change spent by the average homeowner per year. The most energy-using and energy-wasting appliance in your home is estimated to beyour home comfort system, which can consume as much as half of your annual energy bill. A home comfort system consists of heating and cooling units, usually a central air conditioner and furnace. Energy efficient products on the market today are made to save on energy and money as a result. Homeowners who have outdated home comfort systems, even as little as eight to ten years old, may look to replacing their system with new high efficiency equipment provided and installed through a professional HVAC company. When they do so, their air conditioner and furnace perform better, can last longer, and help to save on energy and utility bill costs.

Controlling Heating and Cooling

While an energy efficient home comfort system is a smart choice, you don?t want to leave out the device that runs it: your thermostat. Manual thermostats are becoming a thing of the past, especially when you have energy efficient equipment to operate. Instead, programmable thermostats are designed to save energy daily, and if you have installed a high efficiency heating and cooling system or are considering doing so, consider having a programmable thermostat installed, as well.

Programmable thermostats save energy by adjusting your home?s temperature basedon your schedule. When normally set temperatures are raised or lowered several degrees (depending on the season) for several hours at a time each day, the savings benefits can be significant. Programmable thermostats gain information from you to work the most efficiently. This means that while you are out of your home for several hours at a time and your home is otherwise unoccupied, the temperature is adjusted accordingly and returns to normal thirty or sixty minutes before you return home so your comfort is never sacrificed. It works the same way while you?re asleep and keeps you comfortable when you wake.

Professional Installation

If you decide to have a programmable thermostat installed, contact a professional HVAC technician to do the job. Both proper placement and secure wiring are important when it comes to the installation of a thermostat. Your thermostat should be installed away from any sources of heat or cool air, such as windows, doorways, and vents, which can interfere with temperature recognition and adjustments. Wiring the thermostat can be a tricky task that only a professional should handle, and this ensures that your thermostat has been adequately installed and is safe to use for saving you energy every day.

These termites become living bombs to defend against attackers

When the insects can no longer forage, nature weaponizes them

What are your plans for retirement? Do you plan on touring the country in an RV with the grandkids, or perhaps finally catch up with all that paragliding you never did when you were younger? Perhaps you should just be glad that you'll age more gracefully than the Neocapriterme taracua ? as the termite enters its old age, it becomes a toxic, living bomb, ready to explode at a moment's notice.

The discovery came when researchers Jan ?? obotn??k of the?Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Thomas Bourguignon of the?Free University of Brussels were examining termites in French Guiana. They noted that select termites had pale blue spots on their abdomens. When disturbed and unable to fight using their jaws, the insects commit suicide and burst, releasing a mix of chemicals that can poison and kill their attackers.

It's believed those blue spots are actually crystals that help give the termites' toxic stew its potency. Only older termites have the crystals?? essentially, when the insect gets too old to forage for food, it turns into a living defensive weapon for the insect colony. Pretty cool, but if given the option, we think we'll stick to our RV tour when we grow old, thanks.

Syria rebels capture 150 troops in Aleppo, Idlib: NGO

Syrian rebels on Friday captured 150 regime troops and militia members in the northern city of Aleppo and the northwestern province of Idlib, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.

It reported rebels as saying they had captured 100 regime soldiers and militia members in Aleppo and another 50 in Idlib, citing videos distributed by Syrian activists.

The video of dozens of men in civilian clothing seated in a courtyard in Aleppo was filmed by a man describing himself as a member of the rebel Free Syrian Army.

The captured men tell the camera that they are in the Syrian army and the "shabiha" pro-regime militia.

"I am Colonel Mohammed Rashid Mohammed al-Mhmeid... I was arrested at the entrance of Aleppo," one says.

"I am Captain Fuad al-Hosh, commander of the Aleppo police in Shaar district. I was captured when I left my post," says another.

One man identifies himself as a member of the shabiha, saying he was captured in Hanano in Aleppo and had "killed a demonstrator."

Both rebels and troops have been massing in Aleppo for a major battle, but fighting has already taken place, including in the southern district of Salaheddin.

The Observatory said the second video shows the aftermath of fighting in the town of Maaret al-Numan in Idlib.

"After clashes that lasted 12 hours, rebels destroyed a military security post and captured 50 regime troops, including 14 officers," Observatory director Rami Abdel Rahman told AFP by phone.

Abdul Rahman said the fighters seized a large amount of weapons and ammunition from the military post near a checkpoint.

In the video posted on YouTube, rebels in civilian clothing are seen rummaging through what appears to be an old building used as government offices.

The person recording the footage walks through an arched hallway into an adjacent room, where a body with a severed arm lies on the floor.

One man tells the others: "Pee on him."

"No, he's already dead. Show some respect," another retorts.

Outside, the streets are littered with debris and teenage boys and men walk freely, toting Kalashnikov assault rifles.

"This is the largest street in Maaret al-Numan, which was controlled by the regime. It is now in the hands of the local rebels." the cameraman is heard to say.

Author interview no.442 with writer RL Tecklenburg ? Morgen ...

Welcome to the four hundred and forty-second of my blog interviews with novelists, poets, short story authors, biographers, agents, publishers and more. Today?s is with historical and non-fiction author?Robert ?R.L.? Tecklenburg. A list of interviewees (blogged and scheduled) can be found here. If you like what you read, please do go and investigate further.

Morgen: Hello, Robert. Please tell us something about yourself, where you?re based, and how you came to be a writer.

Robert: I live in northern Virginia with my wife, Rebecca. I retired from the federal government and took up fiction writing. Even though I have advanced degrees in history, I love reading and writing fiction. I guess it fulfills some intrinsic need for self-expression that non-fiction writing does not.

Morgen: I?m the same, the only non-fiction I write is about writing. :) What genre do you generally write?

Robert: I write historical fiction generally, but have also written extensively in non-fiction including newspaper articles and historical essays.

Morgen: (history was my worst subject at school) :( What have you had published to-date? Do you write under a pseudonym?

Robert: I have published two novels??Ghosts of War? and ?Chasing Pancho Villa?. I published one play titled, ?Tell Mama Good-bye?.

Morgen: Scripts are hard. I wrote the first 102 pages of one for the now-defunct Script Frenzy and struggled, so much so that I only managed two pages over the target 100, so I admire anyone who does. Have you had any rejections? If so, how do you deal with them?

Robert: I have had many, many rejections and each one is difficult to handle. I take them too personally. But I keep writing and writing, determined that the next thing is better than the last. Sadly, most rejections are not from the manuscript but on the query which is both good and bad. Good because it isn?t necessarily a critique of my writing, and bad because the manuscript doesn?t get the input it needs to improve. My philosophy is no matter how good one thinks their writing is, it can always be made better.

Morgen: But we can fiddle with our writing for ever and never been completely satisfied. It?s like a child on its first day at school, you have to let it go. :) Do you have an agent? Do you think they?re vital to an author?s success?

Robert: I have an agent representing a screenplay for ?Chasing Pancho Villa?. After circulating the book around screenwriters, an agent actually found me. I think for screenwriters an agent is critical to an author?s success. Hollywood is far too complicated for me ever to understand, but for publishing, I don?t think they?re vital. Important but not vital.

Morgen: That?s really interesting (I know nothing about Hollywood from the other side of the camera). Are your books available as eBooks? Were you involved in that process at all? Do you read eBooks or is it paper all the way?

Robert: ?Chasing Pancho Villa? is only available as an ebook. Publisher is Untreed Reads. ?Ghosts of War? is paper only.

Morgen: Ah, Untreeds has been mentioned on here a few times. :) You have a publisher, how much of the marketing do you do for your published works or indeed for yourself as a ?brand??

Robert: I have done almost all the marketing for ?Ghosts of War?. I am involved in marketing for my ebook, ?Chasing Pancho Villa?, but the publisher has been more involved. The latter has been a real learning experience for me. I discovered that marketing for paper is a rather expensive process when the author takes on that responsibility.

Morgen: Ouch. Do you have a favorite of your books or characters? If any of your books were made into films, who would you have as the leading actor/s?

Robert: ?Chasing Pancho Villa? is my favorite and it has been written as a screenplay. I want Robert Downey,Jr., Selma Hayek, and Benicio Del Torres as the leads.

Morgen: Oh yes, I?d pay to see that. Did you have any say in the titles / covers of your books? How important do you think they are?

Robert: The titles have been mine. The covers were developed by the publishers with my input and consent. Both are very important to selling the book.

Morgen: What are you working on at the moment / next?

Robert: I?m working on a non-fiction. I call it a memoir / history / travel story.

Morgen: :) Do you manage to write every day?

Robert: I write every day. When I have nothing to say I work on something else, or edit, or go sailing. Hey, life is short.

Morgen: Sadly, yes, time does seem to go quicker the older you get (I?ll be 45 next month :) ). Do you plot your stories or do you just get an idea and run with it?

Robert: I plot them, but my stories have all been born from an idea that I develop and re-develop. I think it?s important to BE FLEXIBLE.

Morgen: :) Do you have a method for creating your characters, their names and what do you think makes them believable?

Robert: I have no method that I?m aware of or will admit to. But I think it?s important that characters be believable. I like the idea of normal people confronting abnormal circumstances.

Morgen: I agree completely, they have to be believable, regardless of how quirky or dull. Please tell us more about your non-fiction?

Robert: I?m working on a non-fiction story about the Vietnam War and a recent return. The story is about a marine returning to the villages where he served during the Vietnam War thirty-five years later. The tentative title is ?Children of PhuLoc?.

Morgen: Do you do a lot of editing or do you find that as time goes on your writing is more fully-formed?

Robert: I edit, edit, and edit more. No, I think my ideas are fully formed but not the story that follows from them.

Morgen: I?m sure everyone reading this will feel the same about their writing. Do you have to do much research?

Robert: I was trained to do research and I do a lot of it for everything I write. Here in the Washington, DC metro area, I have access to some of the best research facilities in the world.

Morgen: :) What point of view do you find most to your liking?

Robert: Third person.

Morgen: Do you have pieces of work that you think will never see light of day?

Robert: Probably, but I don?t tell myself that. You gotta believe.

Morgen: You do? and I plan to revisit my old stories, in fact I did just that with a six-year-old children?s story (the age of the story not the child) this week and didn?t think it was too bad until I put it out to my first readers and saw the first one come back splattered? I?m glad it did as I don?t have children so I have to learn. :) What?s your favorite / least favorite aspect of your writing life? Has anything surprised you?

Robert: Writing is my favorite part. That is, setting down alone in a quiet setting with an idea, story, etc, and writing. Least favourite: occasionally it gets lonely.

Morgen: Most authors have said the same for their favourite (although I do know some who find it tortuous) and although most say marketing as their least favourite, some have said the solitude. Personally, with a dog for company in the day time, I love being shut away. :) What advice would you give aspiring writers?

Robert: Keep writing, writing, and re-writing.

Morgen: Because it?s what we do. If you could invite three people from any era to dinner, who would you choose and what would you cook (or hide the takeaway containers)?

Robert: I would choose Ernest Hemingway, Kurt Vonnegut, and the guy who built the great pyramid of Giza. Forget the food. We would sit in the Oasis Tavern in Belle Plaine, Iowa, drink cheap booze all afternoon, and find out how that guy did it in 2500 BC.

Morgen: That sounds like fun. :) Is there a word, phrase or quote you like?

Robert: ?Man is condemned to be free: because once thrown into the world, he is responsible for everything he does.? John Paul Sartre.

Morgen: That?s true. What do you do when you?re not writing?

Robert: I like to paint with oils and sail.

Morgen: Are there any writing-related websites and/or books that you find useful?

Robert: I?ve found the website where I met you to be very useful.

Morgen: I think that was LinkedIn. It is great, isn?t it. I was running low on interviewees earlier this year so put a shout-out on the dozen or so groups I belong to and am now booking into April next year! Are you on any forums or networking sites? If so, how valuable do you find them?

Robert: I?m not on any regular networking sites or forums but I plan to get more involved.

Morgen: Oh well, set aside half your life, they?re very time-consuming. :) What do you think the future holds for a writer?

Robert: As long as there are readers the world will need writers. The mediums may change but not the process.

Morgen: I?ve heard a few times that people are reading more now than ever and that can only be a good thing. :) Where can we find out about you and your work?

Robert: Untreed Reads Publishing and Amazon.com.

Morgen: Is there anything you?d like to ask me?

Robert: Morgen, how long have you been doing this blog?

Morgen: Just over a year. I started it on 31st March 2011 because I?d heard it was the good thing to do, not knowing how much it would take over my life (in a good way)? it?s become a full-time job (and then some) but I?ve loved meeting everyone.? Thank you, Robert.

I then invited Robert to include an extract of his writing?

?Rapido! Rapido, muchachos,? General Villa urged in a low voice. ?Los invasores vienen.? He sat astride his favorite horse, Siete Leguas, with the morning sun at his back.

A lone rider on a great dark stallion navigated expertly through the column of armed men to move up beside the General. The rider greeted him with a simple nod and he reciprocated, also without speaking. With a weapon strapped tightly to her narrow waist, sombrero pulled low over her eyes, the tall, slim figure, sitting ramrod straight in the saddle, made an unforgettable impression on the war-weary soldiers.

I then invited Robert to include a synopsis of his latest book?

The year is 1917. Violent revolution rocks Mexico while, just across the border along the Rio Grande, African American soldiers plunge the Army into crisis. Negro soldiers rebel against America?s ?Jim Crow? laws at army camps in Houston and Brownsville. Caught in this maelstrom of violence, Harrison James and Maria Washington, two people from very different worlds, fall passionately in love as they battle revolutionaries, uncover spies, and expose gunrunners.

With ?Chasing Pancho Villa? and ?Ghosts of War,? Robert Tecklenburg explores how great human events impact on the lives of ordinary individuals. The author, a veteran of the Vietnam War, is an enthusiastic student of history, currently working on a memoir based on his combat experiences in Vietnam seen from the vantage point of thirty-five years after. This story develops from two recent trips he made there. He and his wife Rebecca make their home in Northern Virginia.

Early Career:
Initially Anushka thought of making it big in the fashion industry as a model. She had no dreams of acting in films then. She even said once, ?I can?t see myself doing anything else?. Fortunately she was chosen to be Wendell Rodrick?s model at the Lakme Fashion Week for his Les Vamps Show. Later she was picked to be Rodrick?s finale model at the Spring Summer 2007 Collection. Anushka Sharma enrolled with the Elite Modeling Agency. Yash Chopra was looking for someone to essay the role of a small town Punjab girl. Elite Modeling Agency sent Anushka?s portfolio to Yash Raj Studio and in 2008, she got her dream debut in Aditya Chopra?s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi where she portrayed the role of Taani. It was a dream debut in all regards. Firstly, she got paired with Shah Rukh Khan who is one of the leading actors of Bollywood in her very first movie and secondly, Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi became a box office success. The songs were popular and her role stood apart even opposite SRK.

Other mainstream movies:
Although Anushka Sharma became a household name soon after the popularity of Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, other directors, film makers and producers could not rope her in their films to invest on her new found success. This was because of the fact that she was bound by a three film contract with Yash Raj Films. That is why the year 2009 did not see her taking part in any films. Anushka?s second film, Badmaash Company made under the banner of Yash Raj Films was released on 7 May, 2010. The cast also included Shahid Kapoor, Meiyang Chang and Vir Das in the other roles. The film was an average grosser at the Bollywood box office. The film got mixed bag of reviews from the film critics.

In the year 2010 itself, Anushka Sharma completed her part of the three film contract with the Yash Raj Films by starring in Band Baaja Baaraat, a romantic comedy. This film was released on 10 December, 2010 and also marked the debut of newcomer Ranveer Singh as actor and Maneesh Sharma as the director. The story of this film revolved around the business of wedding planning.

Anushka Sharma played the role of Shruti Kakkar, a typical Delhi Punjabi girl who has the dreams of setting up her own wedding planning company. Anushka herself commented that Band Baaja Baaraat was her best film till date. Band Baaja Baaraat went on to become a sleeper hit. The film grossed INR 21.44 crore. This was the first time in her three films acting career that a film?s success rested entirely on the shoulders of Anushka Sharma (who was just two films old than her co star, the debutant Ranveer Singh). Anushka went on to win several awards for her acting in Band Baaja Baaraat. The only time she won so many awards was after the success of her first film Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi. Ending her three film contract with the Yash Raj Studios, Anushka started filming for her fourth film titled Patiala House alongside Nikhil Advani and Akshay Kuamr. This was her first venture outside the Yash Raj camp. Patiala House released on 11 February, 2011. The film was an average grosser at the box office but Anushka?s performance was critically acclaimed once again.

Changing The Image Of AIDS

Photographer David Binder began documenting stories about AIDS in the late 1980s and became well known for humanizing the epidemic for various publications, including Life magazine and The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Over the course of 25 years, Binder has approached the subject from different angles: By spending time at Camp Sunburst, a program for families coping with AIDS; and with a former drug user turned activist, who started an underground needle-exchange program; and with a Playboy model struggling to live with the disease.

Binder's long-term documentation of Gail Farrow and her family deftly shattered reader's perception of the epidemic. Farrow, an African-American mother of four, contracted AIDS through a blood transfusion, defying the stereotype that only prostitutes, homosexuals and drug users were vulnerable to infection.

Calling My Children, Binder's documentary about Gail and her family, will be screened Wednesday night at the U.S. Capitol in conjunction with the International AIDS Conference. Watch the video to hear Binder's own words about this invaluable body of work.
