AMSTERDAM ? A Dutch dolphin park has loaded a young killer whale into a container on a truck ahead of her transfer to an amusement park in Spain later Tuesday after conservationists lost a legal batter to have her released.
Early in the morning, the 1,400 kilogram (3,085 pound) female orca named Morgan was hoisted by crane into the tank, where she is resting in a hammock that restrains her movement. She is being kept wet by trainers.
Her container will be put in a plane and flown to Loro Parque on the Spanish island of Tenerife, said spokesman Bert van Plateringen.
The city of Harderwijk has issued an emergency ban blocking "Free Morgan" demonstrations during the transfer.
Morgan, who is 3, was rescued in 2010.
