SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (AP) -Michael Stephens scored in the 80th minute to help the Los Angeles Galaxy beat El Salvador's Isidro Metapan 3-2 on Thursday in the final group of the CONCACAF Champions League.
Jack McBean gave the Galaxy a 1-0 lead in the first half with a header, but Isidro Metapan responded in the second half when Paolo Suarez found the net in the 54th-minute. McBean scored again 7 minutes later, and El Salvador's Nicolas Munoz quickly countered on a free kick to level it at 2-2.
Los Angeles, which had already wrapped up a quarterfinals spot, played without star forwards David Beckham and Robbie Keane.
As the fourth seed, Galaxy will play Costa Rica's Herediano in the quarterfinals that begin in March.
